zefal strapless toeclips are made so you can still pull up but do not have to worry about tightening and loosening a strap which can cause some problems.

so good we have a friend who put them on all four bikes and i think has a spare set.

thanks to tony for this delightful example. more pics here

friends in france

Filed under: people, touring — davos @ 7:04 am

The lovely Kathryn and Daniel have left sydney and are cycle touring around france. Daniel on his new bike and Kathryn on her trusty fuji touring. These guys are awesome, i got homecooked pikelets one saturday gving them some mechanic lessons.
I was hoping we would get a postcard or email as i didn’t have anyway to contact them and thank them for being such great customers and i don’t think they are returning to sydney. If you read this, we hope you are having a wicked time.

The valley road looks good but i am not sure about getting over the mountains, better you than me i think. Good picture resolution eh.

World Randonneur

Filed under: New products, touring — schmadzie @ 3:29 pm

ca72ojf5.jpgWe have just got a great new bike in store that were very excited about the World Randonneur which is Vivente new touring bike. It is a cro-mo frame for durability and comfort, Tiagra triple groupset with a nice range of gears, Nitto Randonneur bars, Tubus Racks front and back and Scmidt LED dyanamo lights front and rear for safety. The best part about it all is that is only $1750

Touring specialists

Filed under: New products, rohloff, Surly, touring — schmadzie @ 3:00 pm

We get very jealous of people coming in telling us all their awesome travelling plans. BUt it is pretty cool, nonetheless. Inspiring. Hmm. So anyway, we have heaps of cool touring stuff.

The best not too loaded up/budget touring bike the Fuji Touring is BACK BABY! $1350 . Tip from the top. Get in quick if you want one. There has been a huge amount of demand, and there aren’t many available. Lovely bike.

We just became Vaude dealers and I am particularly impressed by their Roadmaster bags $100 for front $130 for rear. NIce attatchment system, raincover, pockets. Good value. They also do some very similar to the ortliebs (which should be back in stock in a couple of weeks).

more soon

Just a few pics from my latest very short touring trip up in the tropics. It’s a Rohloff Surly Karate Monkey with Old Man Mountain Racks and Ortlieb panniers. DT rims of course.

fnq update

Filed under: General Stuff, Surly, touring — schmadzie @ 7:12 pm

Tiff and I just rode from Cairns to Cape Tribulation. We have seen an echidna, baby crocodile, mumma crocodile, treefrogs, little tiny frogs, spiders, been bitten by heaps of stuff (not crocodiles) and rode over a couple of big mountains.Hopefully it will fine up and we can go out to the reef.
Inspired by all the bikes in Cairns and Port Douglas I want to make more bikes with baskets. Maybe a green 1×1 with SRAM 3 speed, and a dynamo hub with a big basket on the front.
Back monday.

fuji touring replacement found !!

Filed under: General Stuff, New products, touring — schmadzie @ 10:59 am

The Allegro Touring

It is with great pleasure that I announce a new light touring bike to replace the now-unavailable Fuji Touring.

Basically, Richard, the Victorian Fuji rep was aware that the fujis were going to be stopped, and he got some bikes made up that are pretty much exactly the same bike.

And we just recieved a steel track/singlespeed bike drilled for brakes for $900 or $1000 with brakes that has the same finish.

SO, my initial observations are. Looks fantastic, especially the pinstriping. The front fork doesn't have rack mounts, but we have front racks that will fit this fork by Old Man Mountain. The rear rack is a bit nicer.25kg rating. It is available in 50 52 54 56 58 60 square sizing. $1500
Otherwise, it's the same as the Fuji touring, one of my favourite bikes from last year.

I am excited!

We can do euro trekking bar conversions. Pricewise, this works out similar, and we can do upgrades and change any of the parts around to you liking. Dynamos etc
