February 26, 2007 – NSW State Election

Filed under: advocacy — nicholasb @ 11:01 am

I was out of the workshop on Saturday arvo, cos I went down to the information sessions for It’s a campaign run by the CPF to get all the candidates for the NSW state election to commit to supporting and funding cycling if they’re elected, and it looks like it’ll be really positive and productive.

Vote4Cycling is surveying the candidates and parties and getting policy statements to find out where they stand when it comes to bicycles. The statements and survey results will be on the website soon.

You can help by going to the website, and contacting the candidates in your electorate to let them know how important your bicycle is to you, and what kind of improvements you’d like to see. Have a read of the “Issue Sheets” that are scattered through the site for facts, figures and ideas.

If a candidate’s position on cycling is something that’s going to change the way you vote, it’s really important to communicate that as well.

Ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same. We’ve also got postcards at the shop that you can sign and send.

If you want to do more, contact your local BUG. There’s also some news from BNSW over on  VeloSydney.
