Heh
I might come along and watch, I don’t know how long I’d survive if I tried to compete.

my sweet steel frame will transform into a lovely single speed cyclocross machine with dave’s help. Good to see it out there

Be cool if you guys come along (I might have to see if I can find another bottle of Chimmay for the prize). The race is only very short 10 mins + 1 lap (1 lap is about 1 km) and very spectator friendly. Some pics of the first race here http://singlespeed.smugmug.com/gallery/2269317
Hopefully we’ll get a few more starters this time.
Unfortunately the Feb 17 Date is looking unlikely at this stage, but the March date should be OK.

Hot Cross!
With temperatures in the mid 30s, this was possibly the hottest
cyclo-cross race ever. 7 starters this time (up from 4) and our first
female racer; this must be the fastest growing cycle sport in the
country at the moment.
Duncan had the experience of racing overseas and it showed gaining a
considerable lead over the first barrier section. After getting past
Huge it pretty much ended for me there when I made the mistake of
trying to chase Duncan down instead of defending 2nd place. After lap
3 I had nothing and only a desperate sprint and some very late braking
gave me the line into the descent ahead of Pants which allowed me to
hold him out.
Peter the Mystery Pom CX’er, has been so desperate for a ‘cross race
that when he found out about the race at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon,
he quick converted his fixie to free-wheel, put on new bars, brakes &
tyres and drove over an hour to make the 5:30 start time. He didn’t
even have time to put on any bar tape.
Final results
1 – Duncan Markham
2 – Spoonboy
3 – Huge Flower
4 – Robbie “McEwen” Parbery
5 – Joe Pants Ward
6 – Christie “Queen of the ‘cross Galaxy” Sym
7 – Peter Mystery Pom CX’er
