Glebe Point Road

Filed under: advocacy, General Stuff — schmadzie @ 9:34 am

Clover's newsletter this week includes: An upgrade of Glebe Point Road is one action strongly supported through the public consultation process. Council has begun a feasibility study to identify the range of capital works and other improvements needed to revitalise this historic thoroughfare.
The project will build on the existing unique characteristics of the road and needed works will be investigated during the feasibility study, including undergrounding of powerlines, footpath upgrades and lighting improvements.
This study will enable the City to allocate adequate funding for the next financial year and the findings will be reported to the community for further consultation later in 2006.
Every City Council upgrade so far has diminished space for bikes with footpath widening. Glebe Point Road is an important bike route with just 'door zone' lanes now. BikeSydney members in Glebe – please be alert and alarmed. Get involved now in the Glebe Society, any other community groups, and the Chamber of Commerce, so that we are well positioned to get the best possible result for cycling.

Detailed information and contacts for feedback are available on the website
